Our approach to product feedback

Here at Power Factors, we take product feedback extremely seriously. We believe that listening to our customers, team members, and prospects - by taking their ideas on board - is a sure-fire way to build better products.
We use your feedback to identify the most important features, ideas, pain points, and opportunities so that you can get more value from our products as efficiently as possible.


The benefits of giving us your product feedback

If you take the time to submit your product feedback to us, it means that you have a direct say in how our products develop over time. It means that your ideas are valued and listened to, rather than filed away and ignored.
Ultimately, it allows us to work with you to build the best products we possibly can.

What happens to your product feedback

Our product teams meet regularly with the CSMs, to go through new ideas. Once we have verified that an idea isn’t already available in the system, and seems like a good idea, we change the status to Accepting Votes. Then more people can vote, prioritize, and give us information. This allows us to gauge demand, gather use cases, and establish impact & value.

If we decide to implement an idea, the status will change to Planned or In Development. When it’s done, the status will change to Delivered. Anyone who has submitted or voted on a specific request will be notified when the status of the request is updated. We will always provide an explanation as to the nature of the status update.

Unfortunately, not all requests are in line with our vision and strategy, so sometimes we reject them. When this happens, the status will be changed to Archived and we’ll add a note to let you know that it won’t be delivered.


How we choose what to implement

When we plan a release, we use many factors to help decide which suggestions to implement, including:

  • Customer feedback - there are many ways we listen for your feedback:
    formal customer interviews and other research activities
    events like conferences and trade shows
    comments and votes on issues here in Greenbyte & BluePoint Influence
  • CSM team insights - our CSM team knows which issues are the most challenging and most common for customers.
  • Product analytics - we track how users move through the system, which helps us understand how existing features are being used.
  • Product strategy - our long-term strategic vision for the products.
If you reach out directly to our support or customer success teams, they'll be able to look up the ideas for you, but they won't have any additional information or provide an estimate for when your item will be reviewed.


Custom applications

Sometimes you need functionality that is specific to your needs and not necessarily useful for other customers or in line with Power Factors strategic goals. These special requests are addressed through custom applications, which can be developed by you, using the Greenbyte API, by third-party partners, or by Power Factors for an additional fee. If you are interested in having a custom application built, contact your CSM.

  1. Flagging of user changed categories and default categories of exported data

    It would be great if the exported data from Greenbyte would flag statuscodes where the contract category got changed by the user. This flagging could be implemented by exporting another column of data or even better be a new data point in the status item at API level.
    Greenbyte by itself already shows this by putting a "(D)" in front of the contract category. However this information is lost when exporting the data.

  2. Create active status events

    It is sometimes necessary to create active status events in GEC, normally during periods of no communications. Although this is not an option when creating status events, there was a work-around that has recently been disabled. As a result we now have to contact the support team to create active status events.

    Having this functionality as an option would improve our internal reporting and also reduce the number of requests sent to Greenbyte support team.

    Considering the current architecture of the system, this is not possible to achieve. We will look into it and determine if we could consider something on these lines for the future.

  3. 'Mass Edit' on 'Component' level in 'Status Categorization'

    It is not possible to 'Mass Edit' on 'Component' level in 'Status Categorization'. This could literally save me several hours of work each month.

  4. Door Sensors on Vestas turbines

    We have door sensors installed on our newer Vestas turbines. Right now they are being logged in the operational log under each turbine and there is no way to import them in to Greenbyte.

    It would be great if that was made possible.

  5. Make it possible to manually edit the end time of a status event

    There are instances when the end time of a status event in Greenbyte is not correct.

    For example, if a turbine is stopped and loses communication with Greenbyte. The end timestamp of the stop event will often appear in Greenbyte as the same timestamp that the communication outage was fixed. In reality, the stop event code may have occurred earlier than that (Greenbyte just didn't know, since communications weren't active).

    The only fix today is for the user to contact Greenbyte support and request the change be made by them. This is inefficient and can be particularly cumbersome when working…

  6. I can't filter manually-modified statuses

    Both in Status Log and Status Categorization, I would like to filter in or out the manually-modified statuses so I can better focus on them.

  7. Make it easier to share my filtered Status Categorization view with others

    The filtering capabilities within the Status Categorization are very useful. However, it's difficult to share with others what exactly you're looking at. Quite often users will have several layers of Filters applied, it's cumbersome to type out exactly which filters you have applied.

    In Dashboards and Data Studio it is really quick and easy to share what you're looking at by using the Share Link button. However, there's no quick and easy way to share your current view in Status Categorization.

    Having a way to quickly share Status Categorization views would improve the user experience.

  8. Status Code lists : management and additional information

    Make the status code list used in the platform portal editable.

    Now we notice quiet some mistakes or receive updates of the status event by the OEM and always have to through support to update them. In a monitoring environment this updates can take to long to be implemented. It would be usefull to add the management of those lists to the portal including following options :

    • adding or deleting list
    • changing the name of the status list
    • adding or deleting status events
    • renaming the status codes
    • adding additional information to status code like OEM description / Operator instructions or…

  10. automatically acknowledge certain statuscodes

    Certain statuscodes (shadow casting, wind sector stop, ...) are standard stop and don't need a follow up from our controllers and it would be usefull to automaticaly acknowledge them.

  11. Filter Status Log for compensated statuses

    It would be helpful if an overview of the status codes declared as compensated could be displayed in the status log.

  12. Options for Mass Edit in Status Log and Status Categorisation (2)

    With reference to the implemented mass edit options as requested in "Options for Mass Edit in Status Log and Status Categorisation", one is missing: the "Delete" option.

  13. Run/Ready status auto grouping

    To gain a lot of time when scrolling down the status of a certain period of time, it would be great if the "Run" and "Ready" (or "Turbine OK") status could be automatically groupped when they are successive.

  14. Priority of statuses

    When several statuses happens at the same time, the system often chooses the wrong status as the main status. If it is possible to priority statuses over eachother, it would reduce the time chaning status (and categorisation)
    Example, Repair and Maintenance should go before Idling at turbine

  15. filter on unknown status code

    New status codes implemented by the OEM and retrieve from the scada status event list which are not in the EnergyCloud status event list are marked as 'Unknown status code'.

    It would be usefull to be able to filter on this in order to see which status code need an update in the EnergyCloud Status event list.

  16. Highlight selected status in Status Log

    In Status log, it would be very useful to highlight the status you are hoovering over with the mouse. This is already available in Alert Log (see attached).

  17. Have the ability to insert a file by a status, like a service report.

    It would be nice that Breeze become a more holistic platform where you can upload service reports by a status and other sort files. Further, why not extend to a document management system?

    Thanks for your feedback, Filippos. These are interesting ideas, but since they’re not in line with our current strategy, I’m going to archive them for consideration if our long-term plans change.

  18. Make status code lookup table sortable by Message and Code Type

    It would be nice to have the lookup table of status codes (e.g. Availability Contracts/Status Codes) be sortable by the Message or CodeTypeID rather than the Code.

  19. Status categorization: set default filter to last (calendar) month and all categories selected.

    "Last month" should be last calendar month instead of last 30 days. . We are normallly working with the status categorization in the beginning of each month for the last month to prepare the monthly reports. As we also have to comment statuses that are already categorized - The default filter should show all contract categories.
