Our approach to product feedback

Here at Power Factors, we take product feedback extremely seriously. We believe that listening to our customers, team members, and prospects - by taking their ideas on board - is a sure-fire way to build better products.
We use your feedback to identify the most important features, ideas, pain points, and opportunities so that you can get more value from our products as efficiently as possible.


The benefits of giving us your product feedback

If you take the time to submit your product feedback to us, it means that you have a direct say in how our products develop over time. It means that your ideas are valued and listened to, rather than filed away and ignored.
Ultimately, it allows us to work with you to build the best products we possibly can.

What happens to your product feedback

Our product teams meet regularly with the CSMs, to go through new ideas. Once we have verified that an idea isn’t already available in the system, and seems like a good idea, we change the status to Accepting Votes. Then more people can vote, prioritize, and give us information. This allows us to gauge demand, gather use cases, and establish impact & value.

If we decide to implement an idea, the status will change to Planned or In Development. When it’s done, the status will change to Delivered. Anyone who has submitted or voted on a specific request will be notified when the status of the request is updated. We will always provide an explanation as to the nature of the status update.

Unfortunately, not all requests are in line with our vision and strategy, so sometimes we reject them. When this happens, the status will be changed to Archived and we’ll add a note to let you know that it won’t be delivered.


How we choose what to implement

When we plan a release, we use many factors to help decide which suggestions to implement, including:

  • Customer feedback - there are many ways we listen for your feedback:
    formal customer interviews and other research activities
    events like conferences and trade shows
    comments and votes on issues here in Greenbyte & BluePoint Influence
  • CSM team insights - our CSM team knows which issues are the most challenging and most common for customers.
  • Product analytics - we track how users move through the system, which helps us understand how existing features are being used.
  • Product strategy - our long-term strategic vision for the products.
If you reach out directly to our support or customer success teams, they'll be able to look up the ideas for you, but they won't have any additional information or provide an estimate for when your item will be reviewed.


Custom applications

Sometimes you need functionality that is specific to your needs and not necessarily useful for other customers or in line with Power Factors strategic goals. These special requests are addressed through custom applications, which can be developed by you, using the Greenbyte API, by third-party partners, or by Power Factors for an additional fee. If you are interested in having a custom application built, contact your CSM.

  1. Knowledge base / Documentation for Bright

    We would like to have a documentation and a knowledge base to gather all information about the calculation - the features available and the one that are not yet fully operative and their schedule - the small bugs detected - the best practices and so on.

    For example :

    In the report section : on a signal bar table in some cases the default budget values are displayed even when an other budget is selected
    In the data studio : the power grid meter is more reliable than the energy meter at grid. Indeed - when there is a communication…

  3. Monthly irradiation budget

    Create a monthly irradiation budget to follow the expected and the real irradiation. That would for example allow to explain certain production drops. This could be displayed in the reports - data studio and the dashboards.

  4. Solar Data resolution

    A lot of solar SCADA data resolution is in 15 minute - rather than 10 minute (as per wind) . It would be useful to either have:

    A 15 minute data resolution option when exporting data or anaylsing it in the data studio.
    Or an option to select the resolution of the source data when exporting or analysing data as you may not always know what the resolution is.

  5. Include lost production for all status codes in export data status file

    At present the status file when exporting data only gives the lost production for stops relating to unscheduled works. It would be useful to be able to see the lost production calculated for all stops regardless of the contract category.

  6. Include Option for aggregation to park level in data Export

    Data Export is only available on turbine level - not on site or portfolio level. It would be very helpful to have aggragated data in Excel Data Export.

  7. Log site access: Search personnel by phone number

    When you log the site access you sometimes have only the phone number and not the name.

  8. ROC: Blue 'Site Access' Icon beside Wind Farm name

    On the ROC screen - a blue 'Site Access' icon should appear beside the wind farm name if people are booked on site. This makes it easy in control centre environment to know at a glance if there are people on site (e.g. at the end of the day). Currently the blue icon only appears beside the turbine/devices if someone is booked onto that specifically (e.g. you cancannont tell if someone carrying out a general site survey or inspection is still on site or not).

  9. New widgets to combine line and bar charts

    The reports get quite long. We have received wishes from our customers for more compact reports. Attached an example on how a widget could show Production vs Budget as columns with additional lines to visualize accumulated YTD Production and YTD Budget - all in the same graph. Similarly it would be great to be able to show a widget with Production as columns + displaying 2 different budgets with 2 different colored lines.

    Some of our widgets now combine line and bar charts – e.g. 24hr overview, Production Distribution.

    Since this request was from 3 years ago and is partially delivered, we are going to close it. However if there is an additional widget which you would like this functionality for, please open a new idea for the specific widget and explain the use case. Thanks!

  10. Options for Mass Edit in Status Log and Status Categorisation

    The Mass Edit function on the Status Log and Status Categorisation page is quite limited. I would like to see the below mass edit functions to be built as well. Otherwise you must go one by one to do any of these tasks.

  12. Monthly Performance Ratio Target

    Currently - under Administrate > Devices - we can only define an annual Performance Ratio Target. We follow-up on monthly Performance Ratio targets. Therefore - we need to define them monthly (with an automatic calculation from one year to another - based on the degradation factor defined for the inverter).

  15. Last week - Last 7 days - Last 3 days options on Analyze Dashboards in Bright

    It has been requested by Cubico that they would like to have Last week - Last 7 days - Last 3 days options in the Analyze Dashboards. At the moment these options are available in the widget settings - so it is quite cumbersome to achieve a "Last 3 days" dashboard. If it is a low hanging fruit it would be nice to proceed with it.

    Objective: Get information - create - upddate - delete tasks with the api.

    New path: task

    Funktions in the query:

    get Informations from task - personal - log site access and so on

    Your Plan data is now accessible through the API, so you can use it for custom reporting in PowerBI, or whatever other tool you use. The following endpoints are now available:

    Get Tasks
    Get Task Comments
    Get Downtimes
    Get Site Accesses
    Get Device Accesses

    These endpoints are available in API version 2.2 BETA in the Developer Portal. While in BETA, they may be adjusted depending on user feedback.

  17. Standard daily alarm filter

    We prefer to look at Active alarms in the last 24-hours. Rather than having to create a filter - make this a standard filter selection. Using the date selection requires a daily setting and the date selection system performance is slow. We have a lot of alarms that come and go so seeing just the latest active ones is more valuable than sorting multiple entries for the same alarm or filtering every day.

  18. More options to customise notifications for Tasks / Site Access

    We can currently set up a notification to email one email address when site access records are logged selecting a task. I would like to be able to set up multiple rules - ie choose to have certain sites go to a certain distribution list - different people depending on the criteria chosen.

    We’ve added flexibility to task notifications using task categories. Define default recipients per task category to have more control over who received notifications when tasks are created or updated.

  19. Alarms: Copy/ Duplication function

    It would be useful to be able to duplicate or copy alarm rules.

    Use Case: I just built an alarm that selects only solar device meters - it took me 35 minutes to go through each site ( I used the search tool) to select only the meter devices - I was able to add one condition - because - they are linked by an “AND” - I need to go back and in order to make another alarm will have to manually select all meters again - taking an additional 35 minutes to select all of the meters will…

  20. Site Access: Personnel number reduces when someone is logged off

    As it is currently when a working party of for example 5 technicians book onto site - the personnel box will rightly show 5. If any of that working party book off the personnel number remains at 5. It would be very helpful if someone leaves a working party that the personnel number shows this.
