Greenbyte Ideas

Our approach to product feedback

Here at Power Factors, we take product feedback extremely seriously. We believe that listening to our customers, team members, and prospects - by taking their ideas on board - is a sure-fire way to build better products.
We use your feedback to identify the most important features, ideas, pain points, and opportunities so that you can get more value from our products as efficiently as possible.

The benefits of giving us your product feedback

If you take the time to submit your product feedback to us, it means that you have a direct say in how our products develop over time. It means that your ideas are valued and listened to, rather than filed away and ignored.
Ultimately, it allows us to work with you to build the best products we possibly can.

What happens to your product feedback

Our product teams meet regularly with the CSMs, to go through new ideas. Once we have verified that an idea isn’t already available in the system, and seems like a good idea, we change the status to Accepting Votes. Then more people can vote, prioritize, and give us information. This allows us to gauge demand, gather use cases, and establish impact & value.

If we decide to implement an idea, the status will change to Planned or In Development. When it’s done, the status will change to Delivered. Anyone who has submitted or voted on a specific request will be notified when the status of the request is updated. We will always provide an explanation as to the nature of the status update.

Unfortunately, not all requests are in line with our vision and strategy, so sometimes we reject them. When this happens, the status will be changed to Archived and we’ll add a note to let you know that it won’t be delivered.

How we choose what to implement

When we plan a release, we use many factors to help decide which suggestions to implement, including:

  • Customer feedback - there are many ways we listen for your feedback:
formal customer interviews and other research activities
events like conferences and trade shows
comments and votes on issues here in Greenbyte & BluePoint Influence
  • CSM team insights - our CSM team knows which issues are the most challenging and most common for customers.
  • Product analytics - we track how users move through the system, which helps us understand how existing features are being used.
  • Product strategy - our long-term strategic vision for the products.
If you reach out directly to our support or customer success teams, they'll be able to look up the ideas for you, but they won't have any additional information or provide an estimate for when your item will be reviewed.

Custom applications

Sometimes you need functionality that is specific to your needs and not necessarily useful for other customers or in line with Power Factors strategic goals. These special requests are addressed through custom applications, which can be developed by you, using the Greenbyte API, by third-party partners, or by Power Factors for an additional fee. If you are interested in having a custom application built, contact your CSM.

  2. Create a search option for the comments in the status log or status categorization.

There is a possibility to add a comment to a status event.

e.g. Status event for unscheduled maintenance might have a comment: "Changing the main gear".

Over a longer period it would be nice to see how ofter a main gear was exchanged. Filtering on text "Main gear" would give all comments with "main gear".

WTSR safety risk due to the fact that it is possible to log the same person on multiple site accesses at the same time. This can couse severe confusion and potentially cost lifes when accidents or emergencies happen on site and the location and workgroup relation is unclear.

The system should restrict the possibility to do site access logs unique for a each person.

  5. add "what's new" in help menu

Similar to Microsoft 365 products, add "what's new" to the help menu to show recently added features. You already show a pop up window with a list of new features when they are added, but if you accidentally click it away (as I just did) or don't have time to read it when it pops up, there does not appear to be a way to pull it back up again.

  6. Changing the order of dashboards in the dropdown menu

In the dropdown menu the dashboards show in a fixed order. It would be nice if we can change the order, or if the order is automatic alphabetic, so we can use numbers to make the order.

  8. Enable access of historical high resolution data from the API.

Currently the endpoint realtime.json provides access to the last recorded data points. however, in order to make use of high resolution data externally this endpoint need to be frequently polled.

It would be a great addition to extend the data.json endpoint with the option to retrieve an invterval of recorded high resolution data in order to remove the need for frequent polling of the realtime.json endpoint.

  10. Make Hours & Lost Production Per Category available via API call

Make it possible to get the Hours and Lost Production Per Category for a given time period via an API call.

This information is currently available in the data studio but not via Data Export or API. It would be very useful to be able to have an API call that displays this information with the hours and lost production for the timeframe specified of each contract category, ideally broken down by month/year.

At present this is only possible by downloading the status logs which when looking at a prolonged date range or large dataset becomes a very long and…

Check developer.greenbyte.com for more information about this endpoint.

  11. More direct access to editing comments in the Logbook (status categorization)

In Status categorization, it would save us a lot of time if we could click directly on the Comment field to enter a Comment, instead of going through : click on the 3 dots, click on Edit, click on the Comment section, write comment, save.
It is also easier to grasp everything at once, when several related events come one after the other.

  12. API: GET Metadata of the Windfarm level

There is the API CAll for Metadata for all devices: https://demo.greenbyte.cloud/api/2.0/devices.json

But with this call you can't get the metadata of a wind farm object.
Would be nice if there will be a new deviceTypeId for the wind farm.

It is already possible to monitor tracker statuses. Please contact your CSM to discuss how to install, or configure the trackers you may already have installed, so that you can start using this feature.

  14. Show availability in MW (total capacity available)

The idea is to be able to visualize Availability in MWs (total capacity available) instead of %. E.g. in a wind farm of 10 x 2MW turbines, if 1 turbine is in Stop during any 10-min timestamp, the site availability will be 18 MW for that timestamp.

Good news! This improvement is included in today’s release. We have added two new Available Capacity for Production Signals:

Available Capacity for Production (Turbine) presents how much power a given turbine is capable of producing at the given time, assuming ideal wind conditions are present. The signal can be used to provide production availability data required by a power off-taker or a production forecasting service, and it differs from the Potential Power turbine signal in that it does not take actual wind conditions into account, but instead assumes ideal wind conditions.

Available Capacity for Production (DC) (Inverter) presents how much power an inverter is capable of producing at a given time, given the time-based system availability and the Solar Capacity DC fixed metadata value. It is often used for energy trading purposes.

  15. Export Data - Include "empty" time stamps for data that were not recorded

If we have a data gap for certain data that we would like to export via Export Data, those time stamps are not shown in the file. The idea would be that those time stamps are shown in the CSV file with empty or NaN values by default.

  16. Order Personnel List in 'Edit Site Access' Window Alphabetically

The personnel list in the 'Edit Site Access' window should be ordered alphabetically. Currently, it can be very difficult and unnecessarily time consuming to find an specific individual and book them off site especially when there are a large number of people booked on.
It does not appear to be organised in any helpful way at present.

  17. change the default year for the dropdown menu

When defining a custom interval on a dashboard or widget, the dropdown menu from Year defaults to the beginning (1995-2006). I'm willing to bet that very few customers have operational assets from this time. Can we default to the current year? Or the year of the windfarm's commissioning?

  18. Heatmap is great, but i wish to adjust the range and color settings

I love heatmap, it is a great widget to see directley what is going on with the windfarm.
Unfortunately it is not possible to adjust the color and range settings.
I would like to make those adjustments to my own liking, depending on my client contract.

Example: Heatmap for the contractual availability. 99-100% green, 98% light yellow, 97% dark yellow, 96% orange, 95% red

  20. Invoiced curtailments

In some markets grid curtailments are remunerated to the generator.
Please include a signal Invoiced Energy = Energy Export + [Lost Production (Grid)]

[or another customizable signal that represents this concept]

In the dashboard is also useful to compare Invoiced Energy against Budget.

    Thanks

This is already available as a signal called Virtual Energy. You need to set the statuses that are invoiced as Compensated in the edit status dialog.
